Reconsidering Context: A Group Exhibition
-- --

Including Marcel Duchamp, Bruce Nauman, Louise Bourgeois, Michael Smith and others...

The International Trade and Enrichment Association (ITEA) is proud to invite you to participate in "Reconsidering Context," clearly the most critical international exhibition of the 20th Century! "Reconsidering Context" will examine the group exhibition construct in contemporary art and recognize it in relation to the world wide web, breaking down the boundaries and hierarchies normally associated with the traditional curatorial process. By reassigning curatorial responsibility to the artist and transgressing the conventional stage of activity, the probability for redirecting and expanding discussion is increased exponentially. Exclusionary institutional policies will be exposed and in turn transformed in order to alter the group show strategy of the 21st Century.

"Reconsidering Context" is scheduled to open on December 31, 1999 and run well into the first decade of the 21st Century. The exhibition will be on view at major institutions around the world including the Whitney Museum of American Art in NYC, MOCA in Los Angeles, Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Kröller-Müller Museum in the Netherlands and La Foret Art Museum in Tokyo and will be seen by millions on the world wide web.

If you are interested in curating a section for "Reconsidering Context" exhibition, please follow these procedures:

  1. Think of three internationally recognized artists with whom you would like to exhibit. Order them according to any system of your choice: Alphabetically, by age, market value, importance or chance.

  2. Now add your name and "and others" to the list. These four names will serve as the basis for your curated section of "Reconsidering Context."

  3. Send invitations to six artists to participate in "Reconsidering Context" and instruct them to add their name and "and others" to the list of artists on the press release.

  4. Sell them to tell everyone they meet in person or on-line about "Reconsidering Context," the exhibition they're co-curating scheduled to open in 1999.|
